My social life can best be described as sporadic – some weekends I am happy chilling at home with Mr C and other times I have a weekend packed with events. As I don’t like to turn down an invitation (within reason), weekends like these are certainly fun but the next day I am sometimes (well, ok usually) feeling a little fragile.
The last few weeks have been a flurry of friends’ birthday drinks, eating out and catching up. It’s been a great release from the stresses of moving home and the school summer holidays!
The first birthday celebration of the summer was dinner and drinks at a venue in Harlesden. So, NW10 may not be as polished (or as pretentious) as other London areas such as Shoreditch and Notting Hill but Park Kitchen is a venue I would definately recommend. The service was first class, the sweet potatoes fries were delish and the cocktails were out of this world. It was a bit quiet but it was early evening and more people arrived as we were leaving. The cocktails won me over and having such friendly staff was a bonus. While it cannot compare with nearby Kensal Rise venues such as Paradise due to being a smaller size, it’s a great place for early drinks or even a hangover hangout as Park Kitchen offers a bottomless Sunday brunch. So don’t be a post code snob and give it a try.
Second stop for the night was a private party at the nearby The Elgin, a popular place for drinks in W9. Stepping inside took me back almost a decade as we held our son’s christening party there. The spectacular birthday cake made by my talented friend Angela was certainly a talking point! Whatever your cake requirements, Pam’s Kitchen will not disappoint.
